Dr. Khan is by far the best dentist I have ever had. And, she has by far the best staff I have ever seen in a dentist office. I have Sjogrens disease which causes dryness of the mouth, and Dr. Khan always takes far more time with me than most dentists have. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now! I feel that they are like family! Linda

We've been going there for years. Very friendly staff. Alway accommodating. One other thing to mention Dr Kahn has had the same staff ever since we’ve been going there. That has to be at least 15 years. That says a lot about Dr Kahn and staff.

Gum Disease FAQ

Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, is an inflammatory condition that affects the gums and the supporting structures around the teeth. It often begins with plaque buildup and can progress if not treated and maintained properly.
Common signs may include red or swollen gums, bleeding when brushing or flossing, persistent bad breath, gum recession, tenderness, loose teeth, or new spacing between teeth.
Gum disease is diagnosed during a periodontal evaluation using pocket measurements, gum bleeding, inflammation, tooth mobility, and other clinical findings. This helps determine the stage and the most appropriate treatment approach.
Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning performed below the gum line to remove plaque, tartar, and bacterial buildup from the teeth and root surfaces. It is commonly recommended when gum disease has progressed beyond simple gingivitis.
Yes. When periodontal disease progresses, it can damage the gums, bone, and supporting structures around the teeth. Early diagnosis, proper treatment, and consistent maintenance help reduce that risk.
In many cases, yes. Early gum disease may improve with routine cleanings and improved home care, while more advanced cases may be managed with scaling and root planing and ongoing periodontal maintenance. Referral may be considered if more advanced specialist care is needed.
